Today's Animal in Need

HRU does NOT support broker/sales programs- i.e. threats of "the truck is coming" to sell horses. We help owner surrenders, saved before they end up at auction, sometimes from abuse/neglect, or by outbidding kill buyers at auction.

Since we were just asked- we do NOT offer donations to homes looking to purchase "kill" horses- if you can't afford transport and the price of the horse, you shouldn't buy or adopt one. HRU is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization- it costs $2,000+ each month to board and feed OUR horses.

Despite being UTD on farrier, vet, & dental needs, and thorough evaluations/training, HRU horses are FREE to just $250 if approved- please take a look if you can offer a stable, loving lifelong home - if not, please keep sharing!

LUCILLE- 14 year-old 15hh Standardbred mare- trails/pleasure riding- suited for intermediate rider

Lucille made almost $300,000 on the track (harness); her record is 1.53. After working as a successful broodmare, Lucille was sold to the Amish, but HRU purchased her back. Just starting under saddle, Lucille is very well-mannered yet forward to ride, and very sweet. She currently lives outside 24/7 in a field with a shed and gets along well with other horses.

Lucille is available for $200 to an approved home with a minimum 60 day trial period. Adopter must be located within a six hour drive of Allentown/Chesterfield, NJ.
