Nightly Beauty List

Some quotes I found today while reading mail, FB entries and surfing the web.
"I firmly believe that beauty is its own reward and time spent seeing art needs no "practical" justification." ~Hecatedemeter
"Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~Confucius
"Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Beauty is not caused. It is." ~Emily Dickinson
"Beauty awakens the soul to act." ~Dante Alighieri
"Beauty is whatever gives joy." ~Edna St. Vincent Millay
"The real sin against life is to abuse and destroy beauty, even one's own, even more one's own, for that has been put in our care and we are responsible for its wellbeing." ~Katherine Anne Porter
"When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other." ~Chinese Proverb
"Warning: The reflections in this mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of ‘beauty’." ~Unknown

Nightly Beauty List
(Image from here)
Since I'm working on Beauty as the Word for 2013, I thought I would add a category for myself about the Beauty I see during the day. And not only what I see, for Beauty can be found everywhere - and in all of my senses: taste, smell, touch, hearing, intuition, humor, and all of the other qualities that I possess.
The feel of cold cheeks when entering my warm apartment after a walk with Kylie.
The smell of my spicy tomato sauce cooking, perfect for a cold evening.
The intuitive feeling that I should write a little book entitled The Adventures of Beauty in Patriarchy - short stories of her encounters in the dominant and toxic paradigm. And having a few of them start writing themselves this early early morning. Beauty, Archetype. Beauty, Metaphor. Beauty, Real.
The "teakettle, teakettle" call of the Carolina Wren on our mid-afternoon walk today.
Watching Kylie run at top speeds through the snow in the fields today.
The taste of that orange, first thing in the morning.
