Since I'm working on Beauty as the Word for 2013, I thought I would add a category for myself about the Beauty I see during the day. And not only what I see, for Beauty can be found everywhere - and in all of my senses: taste, smell, touch, hearing, intuition, humor, and all of the other qualities that I possess.
The feel of cold cheeks when entering my warm apartment after a walk with Kylie.
The smell of my spicy tomato sauce cooking, perfect for a cold evening.
The intuitive feeling that I should write a little book entitled The Adventures of Beauty in Patriarchy - short stories of her encounters in the dominant and toxic paradigm. And having a few of them start writing themselves this early early morning. Beauty, Archetype. Beauty, Metaphor. Beauty, Real.
The "teakettle, teakettle" call of the Carolina Wren on our mid-afternoon walk today.
Watching Kylie run at top speeds through the snow in the fields today.
The taste of that orange, first thing in the morning.

Your book idea sounds soooo cool. :)This is really going to be fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteTeakettle teakettle! Love this. And the taste of that orange. :)
(I once wrote a poem about Sleeping Beauty ...)
Thanks, Em - maybe we'll both publish this year!! Although, all bets are on you!
DeleteHey there's easily room for 2 or 3 or more new books this year! It would be cool if we both did it! :)
