It can’t be denied, March has arrived. We are well into 2013 and last year is fading away like morning mist, a new season is not far away and the wheel of life rolls forward. With many planets in Pisces this month amplifying Neptune’s long term journey in this magical sign, it certainly feels more like we’re in Oz than Kansas. The Pope just resigned, that can’t really happen can it? Do you get the feeling stranger things are yet to come?
March always begins with the Sun in Pisces and as you’ll read below this March 1st is awash with major Piscean energy. The symbol for Neptune ruled Pisces is the double fish, who carry you into deep waters, either to sink to the bottom, or swim effortlessly in beautiful currents others can barely comprehend. The best Pisces are the mystical dreamers, artists and visionaries of every era. Pisces are born to teach others that we are spiritual beings having a material experience. Here are some quotes from Sun in Pisces people who remind us what it means to operate from this level:
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. ~Harriet Tubman
The possession of knowledge does not kill the sense of wonder and mystery. There is always more mystery. ~ Anais Nin
May my soul bloom in love for all existence. ~ Rudolf Steiner
and this one from a Pisces for all time: The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. ~ Albert Einstein
My dream for you is to have your entire life bloom in love now, and always!

March rides in on a wave of cosmic energy with 6 heavenly bodies flowing in mystical water sign Pisces. Neptune, Venus, Chiron, Sun, Mercury, Mars are all in Pisces, and Mr. Karma himself – Saturn, retrograding in deep steamy Scorpio, interacts with the whole pod. A recipe for an emotional month! Obviously you Pisces need to raise your fish heads up, Gemini and Virgo pay attention because your ruler Mercury is still retro until 3/17. Rams pull your horns up too – ruler Mars enters Aries on 3/12, followed by Venus on 3/21, changes are a-coming! For more personal insight read your individual sign messages HERE
In traditional astrology Venus is “exalted” in Pisces, meaning Pisces is the sign in which Venus’ expression is most evolved. Venus in Pisces connects with infinite love, love of the divine and transcendent compassion for all life. Venus in Pisces has deep appreciation of the arts and beauty at all levels and most especially adores the natural world and nature’s creatures. How beautiful is this! When Neptune’s spiritual satellite dish tunes into this lovely message from Venus it spreads as never before! For Pisces you need to know no matter what your age – from 2 to 92, this is time for which you are born! Please tune into this beautiful wavelength, as should we all.
Another Piscean current on 3/1 combines Wounded Healer Chiron and the Sun, with Communicator Mercury not far off and still in retro mode. This trio brings out the other face of Pisces: LaLa Land refusal to face any reality but the voices inside their own head. Chiron has been valiantly trying to get people beyond this mirage for the last 3 years. Astrologer Lynn Hayes wrote a good article about Chiron’s Pisces journeyHere’s a quote from the article: “While Chiron travels through Pisces there is a danger of falling into Piscean illusion which we often attempt as a shortcut on the way to spiritual bliss…If we are careful not to get lost in the glamor that makes up the realm of Pisces and Neptune, there is tremendous potential during the Chiron trip through Pisces for a growing spiritual awareness and an integration of Universal consciousness into our own beings.”
Lofty concept, wonderful to achieve, however a quick look around the world reveals that while many individuals may be waking out of illusion and realizing we must all pull together, unfortunately governments most assuredly are not! Greed, fractional politics, and dinosaur rulers clinging to power still rule the day.
Merman Mars has been diving through Pisces for the last 4 weeks and has played a leading role in this passion play as the “lotus eater” stirring up murky bottom soil. Religion, especially highly ritualistic ones like Catholicism, are connected to Pisces. Pope Benedict XVI, the first Pope to resign in 600 years, happens to have a Pisces ascendant in his birth chart. (You can see the Pope’s chart here )
Martial Mars was approaching the Pope’s ascendant on 2/11 when the news of this historic event was released and today 2/28 the official resignation date, is exactly when Mars sits at this most important angle in Pope Benedict’s chart! Many theories have been put forth as to why the Pope chose to resign, from simple ill health, to Vatican scandals and politics, to even deeper conspiracies about shadow rulers behind the thrones of power running scared and covering their tracks (so Pisces/Scorpio!) More will surely be revealed as time moves ahead. And time does move even more quickly these days, doesn’t it? Here’s another quote from Albert Einstein, “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.”
Mars soon rushes into new territory when on 3/12 this rammy planet enters his very own sign of Aries. Fire sign Aries is the first sign in the Zodiac wheel. Aries is the pioneer exploring new territory and warrior Mars is the planet of aggression – fight or flight instinct. Mars in Aries represents the very essence of confrontation, and this wild cowboy has not visited his home turf since April 2011. Mars/Aries was one of the cosmic players that triggered the Arab Spring. Just as then, Mars meets up with electric, all bets are off, Uranus (exact conjunction on 3/22-23). An image comes to mind of Yosemite Sam bursting through the saloon door, bristling with pistols ready to rumble with any taker. This kind of astro force is not to be denied and the bullies of the world will tap it and/or get flattened by it – count on that!
On the heels of Mars comes his consort Venus who sashays into Aries on 3/21 bringing a saucy, yet biting charm (think Selma Hayek) into the mix. After her One Love experience in Pisces, Venus/Aries is ready to get her way! Tired of excuses Venus teams up first with Uranus and later Mars to demand change! And since Venus is a female, expect women to rise up and get their voices heard loud and clear!
In the midst of all this rapid change with comforting regularity the Spring Equinox (Autumn Equinox in the Southern hemisphere) arrives on 3/20 at 7:02a EDT – 11:02 UT. The Spring Equinox marks the entrance of Sun into Aries and heralds new beginnings. Winter’s icy grip begins to thaw and flowers pop up soon to greet us with fresh faces. The chart for the Equinox is the birth chart for this new season.
The Equinox chart’s major components are water and fire which creates sizzling steam! Neptune, Mercury (moving forward now), Chiron and Venus are all in watery Pisces (Venus at her most exalted degree of 27° Pisces), the Moon is in her own water sign of Cancer, and Saturn is hissing slowly while reversing in deep-water Scorpio. The Sun joins Mars, Uranus and asteroid Pallas Athena in fire-brand Aries, while Jupiter frolics along in lighter than air Gemini. The only Planet in an earth sign is far-away Pluto in Capricorn who is glaring down on the whole bunch challenging them to stop their narcissistic nonsense and get to work!
The chart is filled with extremely creative potential, but very little to ground and actualize ideas…or anything else! This 2013 Equinox chart shares some similarities with the Arab Spring chart of Equinox 2011, which certainly sparked major changes in the region and the world, yet the true yearnings of the people have not yet been realized.
To bring this all down to the personal level, March is the perfect month to tap your highest spiritual potential and explore more fully your deep creative talents and urges toward beauty at all levels. Spend time in nature, love yourself better, and be even nicer to others and the world at large. It’s definitely a time for random acts of kindness. And if later in the month you feel like you’ve got to yell at the Moon, your government, your family or anyone else, don’t hold back, but do it with fineness, wit and style, so they will actually hear you. Practice all of this and March will be a month to remember …perhaps forever.
IMAGE NOTE: This painting Dolphin and Baby is by my very talented sister Heni Sandoval who happens to be a Pisces. Perhaps that is why this lovely, fun, totally sweet picture is such a perfect image for this Pisces issue. You can find more of Heni’s art, including many other great fish and sea paintings at Heni’s Etsy site and at Circles Round Sun
