La Calaca a Day - #13

(Image found here.)

The Impressions
(Curtis Mayfield)

From nowhere through a caravan
Around the campfire light
A lovely woman in motion
With hair as dark as night
Her eyes were like that of a cat in the dark
That hypnotized me with love

She was a gypsy woman,
She was a gypsy woman

She danced around and round to a guitar melody
From the fire her face was all aglow
How she enchanted me
Oh, how I'd like to hold her near
And kiss and forever whisper in her ear

I love you, gypsy woman
I love you, gypsy woman

All through the caravan
She was dancing with all the men
Waiting for the rising sun
Everyone was having fun
I hate to see the lady go
Knowing she'll never know
That I love her, I love her

She was a gypsy woman
a gypsy woman, a gypsy woman, a gypsy woman

  1. so i am reading the lyrics...under your VERY sexy Senorita (we are both sharing some BIG music today!) and i am thinking, OH! i want to hear this song RIGHT NOW~~
thank you delphyne, you completely delivered!!!

    love love love!

  2. I always liked Curtis Mayfield, but then, I loved R & B and Motown back when I was a kid. I was glad to find this video of him singing one of his own compositions. I know Santana recorded it, along with others, but I like this rendition.

Yes, sharing music any day is a good thing to do!

  3. I love this sound, I grew up with!
My calcas can feel the beat from far and are dancing away.

  4. Another wonderful post and calaca ~ (A Creative Harbor)

thanks for coming by and commenting ^_^

    1. Thanks, AMD and Carol - really nice to see you again!
